• Fabio’s POV
• My eyes flew open when I heard Maximo grunt in pain. His hand let go of me, and his gun fell to the floor with a clatter. I blinked, trying to see what had happened. Hugo... Hugo shot Maximo! Not in the chest like I thought, but lower, in his stomach. Blood came out of Maximo's mouth as he slid down the wall. "You're a fool..." Maximo choked, looking at Hugo. "You'll be sorry for this."
• Hugo just looked down at him and pulled the trigger another time. "You're my father," he said quietly. "You taught me how to survive."
