• Ava’s POV
• My breath hitched in my throat, coming in ragged gasps. Even held securely in Fabio's arms, pure panic flew over me. Soft gasps escaped my lips, tears streaming down my face like a relentless river. The terror of dying, the horrifying thought that this might be my last breath, consumed me. I clung to Fabio, my arms wrapped tightly around him, burying my face in his chest as heart-wrenching sobs wracked my body. He held me just as fiercely, a solid wall of safety, and whispered soothingly, "It's okay... I'm here... I'm here."
• Hailey's father ran outside, looking very worried about his daughter. He shouted for help as he picked her up, saying, "She's still breathing! We need to take her to the hospital!"
