• The cool antiseptic stung as the nurse gently cleaned the scrapes on my ribs. "There's no organ damage, and no internal bleeding," she said, her tone professional. "Just some superficial cuts and significant bruising. If you don't mind, Ma'am, could you tell me what happened? We're required to report any potential assault to the police."
• A soft chuckle escaped me, a nervous sound that didn't quite reach my eyes. Seeing her unwavering seriousness, I straightened up, trying to appear nonchalant. "Oh, it was nothing, really. Just a... playful game that got a little out of hand. Nothing serious at all."
