Chapter 67

  • Asona's POV
  • I drove at a speed of 100km/hr in my Mustang convertible on the narrow dirt road linking Icemoon pack with Creekmoon pack, causing a lot of stares but I didn't give a hoot. I passed by the large Creek from which the pack had gotten its name. The myth was that the founders, Fang's father and his mate, which I had just discovered, happened to be my mother, had discovered the creek after going days without water or food in a barren wasteland. They were rogues, and the creek had given them a feeling of hope. When they drank from it, they knew they'd live. In the southern packs, packs were named by attaching “moon” to whatever name the founders had given it, hence Creekmoon, Icemoon, and Bloodmoon. Now that I thought of it, Fang was the perfect person to rule Icemoon pack since he had a heart of ice.
  • Feeling the breeze go through my head, which had turned into a mess of wild brown curls, I stepped on the accelerator, increasing the speed to 120km/hr. A young wolf of about 17 jumped off the road seconds before I would have hit him, eliciting a loud laugh from me. He didn't find it the slightest bit funny as he glared at me and walked away. Irony of life, he was running away from what I wanted, death. But I just couldn't end my life because I had a tiny human that still depended on me. I wiped the tears that slid down my cheeks and increased the loud pop song playing to a deafening decibel.
