Fang's POV
That explained it. She was the shadow I thought I had conjured when I was talking to my Beta. I should have known better than to say that. I didn't want to seem weak in front of my men and now I had hurt her.
I watched her disappear and lock herself in our son's room before I could chase her. My head was a jumble of thoughts. She had seeped into my blood and infected me and now I couldn't do anything without thinking of her. I was losing track of what I initially wanted from our mating arrangement. At the same time, I couldn't stomach staying away from her for too long. The last time it had happened, I had nearly lost my senses. And I gave in first and went straight to her. She had accepted because she was the sweetest kindest soul I had ever met. I felt like I was tainting her pure heart with my black heart.
