Chapter 5

  • Fang's POV
  • The news of my father's death came as a shock. Bala made sure not to tell me till I got home. Panic seized my chest as I drove home frantically after neglecting my pack for one night of pleasure. Saying pleasure would be an understatement. Ecstasy was the word. Because I went to the heavens and came back.
  • Back to the harsh reality that I had left the pack unprotected while partying at the club. I took the blame for all of this. I was in charge of the security of Starwulf. I foolishly took my enforcers with me to the club, leaving the pack with barely any protection. I expected to be back before the end of the night, but that brunette distracted me. I hated her and hated myself for letting me get distracted by her.
  • I had initially gone for aCouncill meeting to represent my father, the Alpha, at the Council headquarters building. After the meeting, I decided to chill a little at the club, and that was when I saw her. Dark brown hair that fell in deep waves on her shoulders, Amber eyed, slender, curvy girl in the most sexy red dress.
  • It was one week since our meeting, but I couldn't get her off my mind. I held a form of resentment towards her for being partly responsible for my father's death. I would love to see her again, but she was too much of a distraction, and right now, I needed to focus on this pack that I now had to rule.
  • Lobo of Creekmoon pack had always been a strong Alpha. But the enemy came prepared. Stabbing my father with a silver blade from behind. My father was trying to negotiate with the Alpha of the attacking pack in his study when one of his enforcers snuck up behind him, pushing the silver blade straight to his heart.
  • I couldn't make it in time. He was already dead before I got to the pack. Today was the day my father, the Alpha of Starwulf, would be buried.
  • “Hey, are you ready?”
  • Bala brought me out of my thoughts with red rimmed eyes. He looked like he had cried a river. He was my father's right-hand man. I understood how he felt.
  • “Yeah I am. Let's go."
  • I rose from the seat in my soon to be office and walked towards the pack cemetery.
  • The trees swayed in unison to the mournful song of the wind. The clouds darkened and threatened to pour their own tears. There was a gloomy atmosphere like nature shared in our sorrow.
  • My father had died in human form, so he was buried like humans. He was placed in a coffin and put six feet in the ground, and his body left to decompose. I watched as the undertakers lowered what was left of my father into the ground. Bala was sobbing by my side and some members of the pack, but for some reason, I didn't cry. I had shut out emotions a long time ago, and hardly anything got to me. That didn't mean I didn't feel the pain of my father's death. I just wasn't new to pain. I would definitely miss him, but life had to go on.

  • “Come my love” her voice echoed in the wind as I ran after her as fast as my small legs could carry me. Following the trail of her white flowery gown.
  • She flashed me the sweetest smile when we got to our destination. The garden. Her favourite place.
  • I smiled back, showing my missing incisor. She sang, her voice a sweet melody as she picked the herbs and flowers she needed. I busied myself with the green caterpillar I saw on one of the leaves when I heard her gasp. Her fa, , a mask of horror.
  • Her basket tumbled to the ground, her herbs and flowers all over the place.
  • The three masked figures suddenly appeared. Together casting a shadow of doom over my small frame.

  • Thunder claps brought me back to reality. The first drops of rain hit the ground, the moment my father's coffin was completely covered with soil. Bala showed up with an umbrella, and we left the burial ground and headed towards the rest of the pack at the living room for the condolence visit.
  • I managed to listen to three irritating cliché statements for the loss of a loved one before I left. I had had enough. It was time to start warming up to my new role.
  • “Serryo."
  • “Yes Alpha."
  • The Omega assigned to me bowed in respect. Even though I was not officially Alpha until tomorrow, she and a few others already addressed me as Alpha.
  • “I'll be in my study for now. Tell anyone that wants to see me, I'm busy."
  • “Yes Alpha."
  • She bowed again as she took her leave.
  • I stared at her provocative ass as she walked away. I would normally be turned on by that, but lately, I had been thinking about the strange girl I had met at the club.
  • I didn't even get to know her name. I wondered what pack she came from. I would like to do some digging later, but for now, I had to work on what lay in front of me. My pack.
  • I had to improve the security. Get more enforcers. Those who killed my father would likely be back. I had to be ready when they came. I would be right here waiting for them. Set up a lovely trap and make them pay for killing my father.
  • Now that my reign was to begin, it was a perfect time to put the remaining part of my revenge plan in place for her.
  • I still heard her screams every night and relived the memories of that day even after 20 years had gone by.

  • “Where's your Alpha?”
  • “I..I..I don't know. Please don't hurt me.”
  • I watched her beg for her life from behind the small shrub that perfectly concealed me from their view. They didn't know she had taken me with her on her usual herb picking for healing. She usually went alone. As the healer of the pack, the garden was her favourite place.
  • I had insisted on following her that day.

  • “Alpha!”
  • Serryo's voice jolted me out of my thoughts. I thought I told her I didn't want any company.
  • “Alpha!”
  • Her voice was getting more frantic. Her small fists pounded on the door.
  • “What do you want?”
  • I snarled at her. I did not let her come in. I opened the door a creak.
  • “I am sorry for disobeying your orders, Alpha, but this is really important."
  • Her eyes looked wide with fear. She constantly looked behind like someone
  • might have followed her.
  • “Come in, let us talk about this thing."
  • I said rather impatiently, leaving the door wide enough to let her through.
  • “No Alpha you have to come with me."
  • She hesitated.
  • “Spill it, Omega. You can't order me around. It's supposed to be the other way around.” My voice came out like thunder, making her shake like a leaf.
  • “It's your mother, Alpha. She's in the living room waiting to see you”.
  • My body involuntarily lost the ability to move. The air suddenly seemed suffocating, and my vision was blurry. My white knuckles gripped the door tightly to steady myself from falling.
  • “"That's not possible. I watched her die when I was five."
