• “One last time,” I muttered to myself while staring at the phone in my hand. “I will try again for the last time,” I said softly.
• Well, that was the eight time I was saying that to myself, but who was I kidding? I couldn’t stop calling Laura, I wouldn’t be able to do anything else if I choose to stop trying. It was night already and she still hadn’t answered my calls or returned any of them. Of course I was worried and pissed at the same time, why is she mad over something so small?
• I understand that we both don’t like Joanna, at least that is what I tell myself, but that isn’t enough reason to treat her like garbage. She is still my guest and she is here with my grandma, whatever the backstory really is, it is wrong to treat her the way Laura wants to.
