Chapter 68 SEEN IS BELIEVING

  • Staring at my reflection in the dressing mirror, I couldn't help the flash smile that persist to linger on my face. I can't just wait to meet my woman again and not only that, it's been a long while since I had my hands wrapped around her slender waist, and cuddling her to myself alone. Thinking about the slight chance of gaining her recognition, I felt a sudden sharp pain in my heart as the smile on my face gradually disappear. The door suddenly flung open, revealing Amelia, she had a gentle smile on her beautiful face as she walked wholly into the room, to where I was standing, actually. “Are you ready to meet the love of your life again, Mr. Alexander?” Her voice was mild and calm. Pursuing my lips, I continued to comb my hair, not knowing how exactly to answer her question. Yeah, I missed her so much, and my only dream was for her to come back into my life again. But now that she's here, she has been owned by someone else. I hurt a lot at the likelihood of another man having his way with her, the only woman of my dreams. “I don't know Amelia, even though the truth is glaring enough, but it hurts my heart so much to think of her being with another man,” I said bitterly as I took two steps away from the dressing mirror, a storm of emotion raging in my heart. “Seen is believing, Mr. Alexander. The news about her engagement might just be a rumor. Endeavor to meet face to face with her and learn the truth” said Amelia in a good nature manner, she looked up at me tenderly as if she would do anything in her power to bring Kiara and me together again. Staring at the woman in front of me, who was absentmindedly acting like my wife, the corners of my mouth curled into a smile. “Thank you so much, Amelia.” I moved closer, opening my arms wider, “Can I have a good luck hug?” I joked, and then she flashed me a big smile as she came into my chest, patting my back in a reassuring expression.
  • Half an hour later, the car stopped in front of a building. The large display screen was displaying a colossal boutique, which has numerous different items of men's and women's outfits inside it. Withdrawing my gaze from the screen, I recalled her words, *To own a boutique for just male wears* My throat constricted in pain as a bitter smile formed on my lips. 'I'm glad you could accomplish your dream, Kiara' I got down from the car which has been opened by my driver, and began to stride in the direction of the building, sneaking a peek at the row of luxurious cars that were parking at the entrance. The red carpet stretched to the door, at each side of the door, there stood two men in black suits and one senior in the middle of them to welcome the guests. Watching how the one in the middle reviewed the invitation passport before he allowed the guest to walk in, my gaze fell to the invitation I was holding, and I felt a sense of happiness arise in my heart at the angel I have in disguise as a friend. I didn't know how Mack had managed to get the invitation card,, and he wouldn't let me care about it. “You're welcome, sir” The senior man greeted warmly after going through my invitation card. I only hummed in response, then ambled into the hall. In the sumptuously decorated hall, people were toasting and chatting with each other. Men were wrapped in business suits, while women were in the most beautiful make-up.
  • My gaze traveled around every opening, but I couldn't fathom anyone who looks like her, Kiara. While looking around, I had subconsciously put forward a pace and I accidentally bumped into someone. “Ouch! Careful man” The lady cried out, rubbing her forehead. “I'm sorry, Miss” I apologized, and the lady lifted her head at once. Instantly, my eyes widened in astonishment, same as she. “Olive?” “Alexander?” We both muttered, simultaneously. “Oh my goodness, Alexander!” She exclaimed in surprise with a glossy smile touching her face. Suddenly, she embraced me for a brief moment then disengaged thereafter, “How have you been? It's been a long time, man. And what are you doing on an occasion like this?” Her eyes gleamed with smiles as she looked at my face. Smiling, I scrutinized her, she looked classy and dignified in her purple evening dress. Her hair was put into a tight bun with a butterfly hair clip. The make-up she was exquisite. “I've been good, Olive. And you?” I asked her gently, and then her smile grew deeper. “I've been good, too, Alex. Tell me, who invited you to tonight's party? Or do you by chance know one of Torres's? Because I doubt that you know Torres himself” All her words were uttered in a breath. I raised my brows as we both put forward a pace. “Who's he?” I asked in a soft tone. “Henry Torres is popularly known around the whole of Mexico, and even Italy. He has branches of companies all over the world, but he barely visits his firms here in Texas” Olive explained word by word as she greeted a few people who passed by us with a warm gesture. “But I'm afraid he'll be staying for a long while this time around, and do you know why?” My hands gradually gathered in a fist as my throat tightened. “The almighty Henry Torres has finally found the woman of her choice and do you know the amusing part, I learned he rescued this woman from dying some months ago while he was cruising on his boat and since then, he never let go of this woman. And to be detailed, the woman is the reason we are all here” She concluded her short story with a beam. However, she didn't realize how much her words were hurting my heart. It was as if someone was tearing my heart apart with a saw. For a moment, I was at a loss for words, but later I asked in a quivering voice, “What's this woman's name?”
