Chapter 31 A Meeting in Dallas
- I put down the cup of hot coffee on his rectangular desk, I readjusted my black skirt before I darted out of the spacious office. “I thought you were going to help accomplish the goal” Her voice made me halt my pace as soon as I stepped out, I was heading to Mack's office. I tilted my head back to her slender figure on the seat, before turning around completely. “You couldn't attain it and again, you created a fight between two best friends, who does that?” She deplored, an annoying smirk was glistening at every corner of her oval shaped face. I managed to squeeze out a smile before moving myself closer to her desk. “Miss Felicia” I called warmly, “It's obvious you're highly deranged, and I believe that you know what people would think if they caught me bartering words with you” Her radiated smile changed to bitterness at once. Then it was my turn to smirk, “Don't mess with me, I won't repeat this again” I left her desk and turned to where I was heading to earlier.
- “Okay if I come in, Mack?” I knocked briefly on his door and asked, “Yeah, please” I heard his casual voice, then I jiggled the doorknob, pushed it open slightly and stepped in. His office was large and unique with a rectangular desk in the middle just like the CEO office, but a bit different. I stood at the door, “Can I see you for a minute?” I asked, tentatively. He heaved his head up, then nodded his head twice. I thereafter strode completely into the office. “You may sit down” I inhaled sharply before planting my ass on one of the chairs across his desk. “What's it, Kiara?” He inquired calmly, I breathe out softly before speaking out, “I need your help, Mack” his brows sewed, “I need to go back to the chairman of DY corporation, Mr. Arthur Jacques” I told him then his eyes grew up in surprise. “What are you saying, Kiara, what do you mean you want to go back to the chairman?” He scratched the bridge of his nose while asking me, “You see… There's a mess I need to clear up, the chairman was not being fair and I need to make him realize things” He sat up on his seat, stooping his hands on the desk. “I knew something went wrong, but Alexander wouldn't say it to me, so please tell me everything I need to know, Kiara” Mack requested, decisively. “The chairman was truly flirtatious as you've said, he tried flirting with me in the presence of everyone after the banquet that day,” My fist had curled up on my thigh while I explained, “The CEO didn't quite seem to appreciate such gesture as he blew up and pulled me away from the chairman” I let out a rueful breath after I concluded my words, “Nicholas was present at the banquet too?” Mack inquired, inquisitively. “Yeah” I nodded, sincerely. “Whoa…” He got on his feet, and moved away from his seat. “I thought you and Nicholas were dating” My face crumpled up as I asked, “How do you know that?”
- He shook his head then said, “That doesn't matter now, how do you intend to make the chairman realize things?” I removed my gaze from his face and also got on my heels, “I'm ready to do anything Mack, in as much as we have the chairman on our side” I declared, “But it's your boyfriend…” I rolled my eyes, “Help me get to the chairman, Mack” I plea, cutting him off. He exhaled deeply, “Okay, but what how will you tell Alex?” I walked up to him as I answered back, “I already informed him, but he's not in support of my decision” Mack watched my face for a moment, “And you still want to do it?” I nodded, “Please talk to him” I told him, and with that, I walked out of his office.
