Chapter 74

• I nodded against his chest, trying to take comfort in his words. But the fear still lingered, gnawing at the edges of my thoughts. Leo seemed to sense my unease, and after a few moments, he pulled back slightly, his eyes soft with concern.
• “Why don’t we try to get some rest?” he suggested gently. “It’s been a long day, and we both could use some sleep.”
• I managed a small nod, grateful for the reprieve. Leo guided me to the bed, and we settled in under the covers. The warmth of his body next to mine was soothing, and as he wrapped his arm around me, I felt some of the tension ease from my shoulders.
