Chapter 46
- The next morning, I spent the time on my bed, staring at the ceiling. My thoughts kept drifting back to the file I’d found last night, the one with Caleb’s name on it. It didn’t make any sense. Caleb couldn’t be involved with the rogues, could he? But if he wasn’t, then why was his name there? My mind spun with questions and possibilities, each more unsettling than the last.
- I shook my head, trying to push the thoughts away. I needed to focus on something else, anything else. But it was hard to ignore the gnawing feeling in my gut, the one that whispered that something was very, very wrong.
- Eventually, I forced myself out of bed and got dressed. The healer had checked on me earlier and said I was healing well, but I still felt sore and stiff. I was about to head out when there was a knock on the door.
