- I laughed, seeing that Caleb could still make jokes after everything we’d been through, but the laughter only made the pain in my abdomen flare up, and I winced, holding my side. The healer, a wiry man with graying hair and kind eyes, looked up from where he was bandaging Caleb’s wounds.
- “You should lie down,” he advised, his voice gentle but firm. “You’ve been through quite an ordeal, and your injuries aren’t minor.”
- I nodded, though the room was starting to spin. “Caleb… is he going to be okay?”
