Chapter 45 Surprise

• Joseph felt his heart pounding so hard in his chest that it hurt. No woman had ever challenged him or left him vulnerable to the way Maya did. He watched her walk away from him, his eyes following her until she reached the balcony.
• Then, his gaze fell on Rodolfo, who was sitting comfortably on the sofa with a glass of wine in his hand. Joseph had no idea who this man was or why he was at an event in his father’s house until he saw Kael approach him with a smile on his face and sit down beside him for a very friendly conversation.
• Intrusive thoughts flooded Joseph’s mind as he watched the scene. Kael never smiled or was polite to anyone, but with Rodolfo, it seemed different. Then Joseph remembered what Maya had said—that Rodolfo was an employee at his father’s hotel.
