Chapter 40 Escape Attempt

• Bryan found Maya’s behavior strange. She silently walked the way back home, her eyes glazed and her hands fidgeting non-stop. Something had happened at the hotel that had deeply unsettled her mind. He saw the newspaper Maya held but couldn’t read what it said.
• The situation between them was so delicate that he remained silent, not wanting to make things worse. Yet, it was eating him up to know what was going through Maya’s mind.
• It was hard for him to keep up with her as she got out of the vehicle and entered the building. Maya went into the elevator, leaving Bryan behind. He took the stairs, but by the time he reached the apartment, it was too late.
