• It was ridiculous that Bryan had followed Joseph’s orders. From the start, it was clear this plan would fail. He looked at Simon, feeling the saliva tear through his throat, and only then did he speak:
• “I don’t know who this Joseph guy is,” he let out a crooked smile, trying to mask the embarrassment on his face. “Can you please tell me where Maya is?”
• “Do you really think I’ll tell you where Maya is after realizing you’re lying to me?” Simon took another step forward, but Bryan didn’t back away. “You seem like a well-educated man, holding an important position. Why would a janitor like Joseph have friends like you?”
