Chapter 33 Desperate Request

• Maya surprised Joseph. Something must have happened for her to make this decision. Marrying him that same day was impossible, but she seemed resolute, clinging to him so tightly that Joseph thought Maya might never let him go.
• “I can’t marry you today, Maya,” he said, smiling awkwardly. He truly didn’t know how to handle the situation. “It’s late at night; we won’t find any judge willing to perform the ceremony.”
• Maya pulled back and looked into Joseph’s eyes. There was deep desperation in them.
