Chapter 10 Maya's Tragic Past
- Joseph felt sweat trickling down his face on that frosty morning. It was as if his body were boiling. He never imagined a woman could stir so many emotions within him as Maya was doing.
- He thought about standing up and leaving, returning to work. That conversation had all the signs of ending badly. But Maya opened her lips again and continued telling him about her tragic life.
- “I was fifteen when I was playing with my sister on the train tracks. Molle was only ten.” She had to stop and take a deep breath, feeling the air escape her lungs. “I tried to save her, but I couldn’t. My father blamed me, and from that day on, I stopped being part of the family. I died with Molle.”
