Chapter 43 An Intruder

• Joseph couldn’t help himself. He tried not to look at Maya, to avert his gaze, and ignore the fact that she looked so beautiful that night. Joseph had always considered Maya a stunning woman, but he had never confessed it, until that night.
• Now it was too late to run or take back what he had said. He was already leading Maya to the vehicle, her arm clinging to his. Since the day he revealed to her the whole truth about who he was, he hadn’t been this close to the woman he had vowed to take revenge on.
• But suddenly, she pulled away, as if being near him was a deadly disease. The contact was broken, and without looking at him, Maya hurriedly moved away and got into the vehicle without waiting for Joseph.
