• Early Kimberly woke up, the morning light streaming through the drapes. She turned to study Travis, his features calm in sleep. Together, they had overcome so many obstacles; now, with Donovan absent from the scene, she believed they may at last find some serenity. She touched his cheek, and he moved, his eyes flickering open.
• "Morning," he said, his voice still laboured from sleep.
• "Morning," she said with a smile. "I supposed to prepare us breakfast. About pancakes?"
