• Warm light from the early sun streamed through the drapes into the bedroom. After weeks of elusive calm, Kimberly woke up feeling it. They had won the court case against Richard Hale. Looking across at Travis, who was still deeply asleep next to her, she was overcome with love and thankfulness.
• Steering clear of waking him, she slid out of bed and went to see how Lily was doing. With every breath, their daughter's little chest rose and fell as she slept sound. Watching her made Kimberly smile uncontrollably.
• Moving downstairs, Kimberly's mind strayed to the future. She had hope again now that Richard was no longer a threat to them. Fresh coffee filled the kitchen as she walked in.
