Chapter 34 Reckoning

Weeks passed and Kimberly was trapped in a mist of sorrow and loss. The truth about Travis had rocked her world and made her doubt all she had ever believed about trust and love. Lily had turned into her rock, the one constant in her life who made her happy in the middle of the upheaval.
She felt guilty one evening when she put Lily to bed. Lily was entitled to better than a bereaved and damaged mother. She gave her daughter a forehead kiss and vowed to herself, if not for her own, to be stronger.
Kimberly got up early the next morning determined. This was no place for her to remain indefinitely. For herself as much as Lily, she had to go forward. Though she knew she needed closure to really recover, the unresolved questions concerning Travis still tore at her.
