• For months now, Kimberly had been raising Lily with more love than she could have ever dreamed, contently married to Travis once more. Kimberly started to perceive little flaws in Travis's otherwise flawless appearance, too, as the honeymoon phase gave way to the everyday grind.
• There were the quiet phone conversations first. At their late-night cuddling sessions or family feasts, Travis would leave the room and his voice would become a whisper whenever he got a call.
