Chapter 7 Chapter Seven

• At the end of the hallway, Mrs. Sydney stood in the shadows, her cold eyes narrowing as she watched Kate leave Cynthia’s room for the third night in a row. Something was going on. Mrs. Sydney had thought Cynthia would obey her, but she was wrong. Cynthia wasn’t trying to hurt Ken—she was trying to help him heal. With a sneer, Mrs. Sydney realized this couldn't go on.
• The next morning, she stopped Kate as she was taking breakfast to Ken upstairs. "What’s that?" she asked casually.
• Kate froze and replied, "A meal for Master Ken."
