Chapter 37 Chapter Thirty Seven

  • Thomas' visit that morning was to give Ken an update—about Cynthia, the situation around the estate, and how things were progressing. But as he stood by the side of Ken's wheelchair, watching his friend silently look out the window, he felt helpless.
  • Ken looked tired—physically, emotionally, and deeply drained. He hated this part the most. The part where he had to sit still while someone else looked for answers. He hated that he couldn't check on Cynthia himself, couldn't drive down to where she was, or even protect her properly.
  • "I knocked on her door like you said," Thomas reported, his tone quiet and careful. "No one answered."
