- Today, she picked out a sleek, lemon-yellow flare gown with pretty silver details. It was nice but still modest. She wore silver heels to match. However, hidden in her oversized lemon handbag were the old dress and worn-out flat shoes she had worn the day before, along with her black-blonde wig and scarf.
- Her breakfast was waiting for her on the table—a treat she was starting to see as a kind gesture from someone who wouldn't admit it. She quickly drank her warm tea and nibbled on the toast. The tray also held boiled eggs, sautéed mushrooms, grilled tomatoes, and buttery croissants—a fancy breakfast meant for someone with time to enjoy it. But Cynthia didn't have that luxury.
