Cynthia lay awake in bed, unable to sleep. The night was quiet, but her mind kept racing. She felt restless and heavy with thoughts that wouldn’t let her be. Above her, the ceiling felt like a big empty space, making it hard for her to think clearly. No matter how hard she tried, she could still hear the words she overheard earlier that day.
“Kicking him out… why?”
Those words were whispered, but they felt like a weight pressing down on her, and she was sure they were about Ken.
