• Rhys held me close, making me feel warm and secure as he explained what happened on his side to me. As he spoke, something kept building within me. My heart was pounding from the tension of the attack, but beneath that, an even stronger surge of anger and urgency was bubbling up. I was thrilled to see Rhys safe, but hearing that he’d had to deal with enemy troops at the border before coming back made my blood boil. The betrayal from our supposed allies was infuriating.
• The more I thought about it, the more my frustration grew. I could feel a wild, electric energy coursing through me. My wolf, too, seemed restless, reacting to my emotions and the need to assert dominance.
