• A few agonizing hours passed with no change. Dawn lay still, her shallow breaths barely making the blanket rise and fall. I couldn’t stand seeing her like this, so vulnerable, so fragile, and knowing I was powerless to help. The fear gnawed and turned into a raw, festering rage that I couldn’t contain.
