Chapter 170 That Was Possible

• “I’m okay.” Sophie breathed heavily, trying desperately to catch her breath. She didn’t understand how quickly her breathing became erratic. All of a sudden she was panting heavily and unable to breathe normally. She felt dizzy, and could faintly hear Max whispering comforting words to her.
• Suddenly, everything stopped moving, everything disappeared except for Max. He slowly withdrew his lips from hers and lowered his forehead gently to rest against her own. His hand remained firmly wrapped around her middle, and he slowly began to move backwards until he hit the wall of the house.
• He pulled her gently against him until she was nestled comfortably in his lap. Sophie closed her eyes and rested her cheek against Max’s chest as she attempted to regain her breath. After several minutes, her breathing finally slowed down to a steady pace again. Her hands curled tightly around Max’s shoulders as she tried to control her breathing once again.
