Max always wants his mate happy and safe and sound, and he will give her everything that makes her happy, but he never wants it to happen too fast. He was always waiting for her to say yes because if she said no, he would do anything just so that she was his forever.
His wolf is very impatient when it comes to waiting for his mate to accept him, it is always excited about what can happen to them together when they finally have their relationship. Max can see it in his eyes occasionally. His wolf loves Sophie like he loves himself and whenever he gets tired of waiting, he starts growling loudly and showing his teeth and showing off his sharp and deadly fangs and Max constantly tries to calm him down by holding his hand or hugging him tight.
“I love you,” Sophie murmurs while kissing his cheek. Max's chest tightens as he hears her sweet voice. He doesn't understand why his heart is reacting this way towards Sophie, he knows how much his wolf likes her, and he feels protective towards her at times, and he is sure that his wolf has a different opinion about her than Max does, which is making him feel guilty all over again.
