• “Father!” I warned him as the lid that had been controlling my temper rattled; it was just going to take a little bit before I totally lost it. But he had no pause or any care for my feelings.
• “I know you can never do anything right,” he shook his head, staring at me like I was his greatest disappointment, and I am beginning to think that I was. “I am just trying to help you."
• “Stop it! Just stop it, father!” I had had enough of him trying to boss me about when he was no longer in charge. “You are no longer the alpha, Damon. I am. That means whatever I choose to do will be of my own doing, and I advise you to keep off.”
