  • The drive to the pack was smooth; the road stretched out before me like an endless line. It was just me and my music against the world, and I was bobbing my head to the rhythm of the radio. And occasionally, I would reach for a cookie from the cookie jar, thankful that Ariel had been thoughtful enough to pack a snack for the road trip.
  • If it were up to me, I would have not bothered with it.
  • In between driving, my eyes shuffled between the road and the electronic device that occupied the passenger seat, alert for any notifications. I know it was sad that I was still hanging onto that little ray of hope, but there was nothing I could do.
