Chapter four

  • That night, I laid on the bed wide awake, staring at the ceiling covered with stars. For a moment, I wondered if I had entered a planetarium or something. As that thought crossed my mind, I squinted my eyes at the ceiling. No matter how pretty this was, I couldn't fall asleep.
  • Ah, I miss my teddy bear! Without Donald, I can't fall asleep!
  • Damn that Sebastian. Damn you, Aiden! If it weren't for Aiden suddenly stopping me, I would've gotten back my Donald.
  • I turned to the other side, facing away from Aiden and the ceiling filled with stars, staring outside the window. My thoughts drifted off to my family. God, I haven't even told my mom about this marriage yet!
  • Thankfully I didn't live with her, and had moved out a year ago with my ex boyfriend. She would freak out after hearing about this! She didn't even know I was coming to the mating ritual!
  • I groaned when this thought crossed my mind. My mom was one of those people who would faithfully believe those rumors about Aiden. She both feared and disrespected this guy. I wondered how she would react after finding out about my current situation. Even thinking about it made me feel immense helplessness. It really wasn't my fault, you see How could a frail girl like me go against a guy like Aiden
  • And I didn't have a father to protect me anyway. I couldn't complain to anyone and tell them that I didn't want to marry a guy who had frightened me to death on our first meeting. Maybe others could call out to family or friends at a higher status if they were me, but I couldn't.
  • That was why I missed my teddy bear. It was the last present given by my father. I really couldn't sleep the night when I saw my father's dead body being dragged by the nurses. He had died just like that of a heart attack. Who would've thought that a werewolf could die like that
  • I sighed thinking of this and looked at the moon in the dark sky. What was even more troubling was that Aiden refused to give me a sense of privacy. I couldn't even get my own room to sleep! Of course, I had expected Aiden to force unto me, but he just showed me around his house and gave me freedom to do whatever I wanted, with just one warning—I had to sleep on his bed tonight.
  • At first, I was frightened the entire time after getting back here, flinching at little things. If a blasting sound was heard from the TV, I would flinch and drop the cup of coffee, and then would see Aiden shaking his head out of helplessness.
  • I instantly covered my face as I remembered that scene. How could I do something so embarrassing!
  • And most importantly, Aiden's pack was mostly famous for being filled with ruthless and cruel people. I didn't know if that was true or not, I just couldn't feel safe here, especially after what happened in the evening. So many thoughts roamed around in my head that I found it hard to sleep or even close my eyes. And every time I glanced at the open window, I would get a feeling that someone was watching me, even though I knew it wasn't true.
  • Damn! I was out of my mind! Pursing my lips, I threw the quilt away and closed the window, and then walked over to the door. It was locked, wasn't it No one would come at night to kill me, right Even the thought itself was enough to make me feel scared. I couldn't help but tremble in fear.
  • Agreeing to marry Aiden was really a bad idea! I should've just escaped for my life and lived a secluded life without joining any pack! As I thought, I slowly walked over to the door and tried to open it normally only to find it locked. A breath of relief left my body as shoulders relaxed. I patted my chest to calm my heartbeat. I was worried for nothing.
  • What're you doing
  • I flinched at that voice, and looked back only to see Aiden's narrowed eyes staring at me. He was still laying on his bed as his hands were placed over his forehead. Come back to sleep.
  • I didn't know what had gotten into me that night. I just ended up speaking the truth. I-I'm scared. I need my teddy bear. As soon as I blurted it out, I covered my mouth with my palms. How could I say this
  • When the hell did I get so blunt!
  • I pressed my lips in a thin line as I averted my eyes. First meeting made me seem like I was a frightened little girl. And now, my current action showed that I was not only frightened but also crazy enough to check whether the door was locked in the middle of the night and blurt out that I needed a teddy bear to sleep!
  • Had I gone crazy after meeting Aiden! I wanted to bury myself in the ground! I couldn't help but feel flushed at this.
  • Aiden narrowed his eyes at me, and he got up, headed over to the cabinet on my right, and took out something.
  • It was a tattered teddy bear. Foams were coming off of everywhere and its color looked so muddy that I couldn't tell what it's true color was. A trace of hesitation flashed in my eyes. Even though I had a habit of sleeping with a teddy bear, I wasn't that desperate to hold onto that thing! It looked like it hadn't been washed for years!
  • But when I saw the cold look in Aiden's eyes, my hesitation washed away as I took that teddy bear in my arms. I parted my lips and said reluctantly, ...It's very pretty.
  • I lied. I couldn't tell this guy that I didn't want this kind of teddy bear because if I had rejected his offer, I had a feeling that he would've just killed me right on the spot. I trembled at that thought and hugged the toy tighter.
  • Aiden seemed pleased with my attitude and nodded. It's the teddy bear that I used during my childhood days.
  • Was that why this teddy bear looked like this I looked down at this toy and imagined a scene of a small Aiden holding onto this and shook my head quickly. That image was too weird to imagine! I can't imagine a cruel guy like Aiden to do something like this! Perhaps this guy was just saying that to make me feel better!
  • The next day, I was home alone. I only remembered Aiden heading out of the door and pausing his steps. I'm heading out, and I'll be back for dinner.
  • I nodded and went to the kitchen. At this time, I couldn't help but be lost in my thoughts. Even though I was afraid of Aiden, I couldn't help but lower my guard. He had treated me fairly well after getting married, and didn't do anything that could make me feel embarrassed and awkward. He even kept his distance all the time!
  • Perhaps he wasn't so bad. Just then, the oven sounded. I walked over and turned it off. After wearing the gloves, I was about to take the food out and gripped the handle tight when the doorbell rang. I was startled and then frowned. Aiden had said he wouldn't come until dinner. Then who was it Did he forget something I rushed toward the living room and opened the door only to see a pretty lady standing before me. Saying she was pretty would be an understatement. Her silver colored hair rested on her shoulders as her blue eyes stared at me sharply. The expression on her face seemed to be contorted as she saw me and then she turned furious.
  • How dare you Do you know whose house this is
  • I tilted my head in confusion. I knew perfectly well whose house this was! How could I not know But why was this woman saying these things And more importantly, who was she I know.
  • And you can still be shameless enough to live here Don't forget, you just had a mating ritual, it's not like he got a marriage certificate!
  • Weren't these two the same thing I was even more confused, but I didn't say anything. I didn't want to make her even more furious than she already was. And for some reasons, she seemed to be angry after seeing my face. Was there something stuck to my face I touched but didn't feel anything. I was perfectly normal. Then why was she angry I couldn't help but blurt out. Who're you
  • Who am I I'm Aiden's girlfriend!
