Chapter 17 Who Was It That Night

  • Henry did not spend the night last night in her room, as it was still neat and orderly with nothing seemingly out of place.
  • After she finished showering and changed into a fresh set of clothes, she left the house and went to the hospital, only to find that her job had been taken over by someone else. As there was no longer a place for her there, she left the hospital. Standing by the steps outside the hospital, she knew that she no longer had any choice in the matter.
  • When night came, she came to Bleu Begird. Just as she was about to enter, she noticed Wisteria there. Why is she here? she thought. However, she answered her own question after she thought about her relationship with Henry. Then, she discreetly tailed her until Wisteria entered a private room. Instead of Henry waiting for her inside, it was Ryan—a guy who had pursued Wisteria during her college days. Although the man came from old money, Wisteria didn't really like him due to his looks.
  • Why is she meeting him? As curiosity got a hold of her, she wanted to find out what was going on, so she quietly went up the door and saw Ryan hugging Wisteria intimately. Seeing that the latter didn't try to push the former away left Samantha with many questions. Isn't she seeing Henry? Is she cheating on him? Upon her thoughts, she felt a slight fear as she thought that with Henry's temper, he would strangle Wisteria to death if he knew about this.
  • "Ryan, let's just be civil about this and break up, alright?" A voice sounded from inside all of a sudden.
  • Ryan's expression instantly changed at her question. "If you're suggesting this, does that mean you've found yourself another man?"
  • "N-No, I just feel like we're not compatible," Wisteria hurriedly explained.
  • "I don't see you saying that when you were spending my money," he sneered. Since his face was unattractive, he would give off a slightly lecherous feeling when he smiled, which was what he did here. With a firm attitude, he smiled and said, "I'm never going to break up with you."
  • After a brief comparison between Ryan's and Henry's faces, Wisteria thought that the former's face was so ugly that it made her nauseous just looking at it. It was to the point that she never wanted to see his face again after this breakup. She didn't want Henry to find out that she had a man outside. Since she knew that Ryan was never going to give up without a fight, she already planned out what her next line was going to be. "How much? I can pay you back all the money I've taken from you."
  • It was true that she was only with him due to his wealth. It was also true that she never could have imagined that she would one day be involved with Henry Baker. If she had known that would happen, she would never have gotten involved with a man like Ryan. After all, it wasn't that simple for her to get rid of him now.
  • "Pay me back?" Ryan underestimated just how determined Wisteria was in ending the relationship, as she even brought up the topic of returning him all the money she spent. "Alright, I want my money back a hundredfold." He knew very well just how vain she was as a person. With how extravagant her lifestyle was, she couldn't have some sort of savings, as she would use them all for either luxury goods or for her own pleasure. He knew that it was impossible for her to have the money to pay him back.
  • "Why don't you go rob a bank instead?!" Wisteria retorted in anger.
  • "Wisteria Cash, I'm telling you now that I'm not that easy to get rid of!" He fancied her very much, so much so that he pushed her down on the sofa.
  • "Let go of me!" she yelled while struggling to break free.
  • "Why are you acting like a virgin?"
  • "You're crossing the line! Hurry up and let me go!" Since she felt that there was a chance between her and Henry, what she had left for Ryan was just feelings of pure disgust. It was to the point that she would rather die than be intimate with him anymore.
  • "I only want you!" Ryan couldn't care less what she had to say. He pinned her down on the sofa and tore her clothes apart.
  • "Let me go! Don't touch me!" Wisteria pushed and shoved.
  • As Samantha felt that the situation was getting too much for her, she turned to leave, only to bump into a 'wall.' Since she was feeling paranoid when spying on Wisteria, she instinctively screamed when she realized that someone had been behind her. However, just as she was about to scream, a hand covered her mouth. Raising her eyes, she realized the man behind her was Henry. With the lights behind the slender and tall man, he gave off a chilly and gloomy air.
  • Terrified to the core, she gulped. Did he see everything? Did he hear their conversation? When she gulped, it was as though she was sucking on Henry's palm since her soft lips were in contact with his skin. As he felt her warm and ticklish breath on his palm, he seemed to have lost himself for a moment before he forced himself to calm down and gave her a warning glare.
  • Baffled by the man's glare, Samantha remained silent while the sound of the two people struggling inside the room kept leaking out. Nonetheless, Henry hadn't the intention to leave, as he just continued listening with his hand over her mouth. With her body tense and her afraid to move, she was wondering if Henry was so mad that his thoughts had become muddled together since he didn't barge in there to stop them. Isn't he afraid that Ryan will have his way with Wisteria?
  • Inside the room.
  • "Wisteria Cash, I'm telling you now that you should give up on breaking up with me. Not even if you paid me back my money will I give up on you!" Ryan was being this difficult because he really liked her.
  • "It's not like I like you." Wisteria was growing anxious. "I only gave you a chance out of pity because of how you relentlessly pestered me. Just look at yourself!"
  • Her words had touched a nerve, and he grew furious. "Wisteria, you really think I'm a man without a temper, don't you?"
  • "Ryan… let me go…"
  • The situation continued to spiral inside to the point where the two people outside couldn't keep track anymore. Henry didn't go in to expose Wisteria and only left with a sour face and Samantha in tow.
  • When the two had gotten in a private room, Samantha immediately asked, "Why are you…"
  • However, Henry wasn't in the mood to answer her.
  • What happened was he happened upon Samantha who was peeking into a private room when he walked past the corridor, so he ended up walking over, only to find out what was going on. With the beauty of that night shattered in his mind, he felt disgusted to the core as he exuded an air of chilliness. He had never expected Wisteria was seeing someone. After all, he remembered the woman he was with that night was a virgin, as he thought that young and inexperienced attitude was impossible to fake. Does that mean Wisteria isn't the one?
  • "Mr. Baker—"
  • "Shut up!" Henry immediately interrupted her. Then, he took out his phone and gave Xavier a call. When the call got through, he said, "I want you to go to the hospital and check just who it was that night!"
