Chapter 13 Banned From Professional Circles

  • "Why do you ask that, Mr. Greyson?" Samantha vaguely had a bad feeling in her heart.
  • "You should know what it means to be banned from professional circles…" Joseph began hesitantly, "I'm afraid that your career as a doctor might be ruined. No hospital would dare to hire you."
  • Samantha was stunned by the sudden turn of events.
  • She clenched and unclenched her hands repeatedly before saying, "Mr. Greyson, I love my job, and I can't lose it."
  • "Even if I want to, there's nothing I can do." Joseph felt sorry for Samantha as well. After all, he recognized and appreciated her work ethics and skills, but he didn't have the ability to protect her.
  • "If you want to keep your job, you should look for Henry. Since you've offended him, you should apologize. It's better than losing your job," he suggested kindly.
  • "I…" she began, but stopped.
  • How could Henry's prejudice against her be solved by a mere apology? She was well aware that he was treating her this way not only because she almost broke something precious to him last night, but also because he was unhappy with the fact that she had become his wife. This was probably a way to get back at her for what happened last night, and also to force her to take the initiative and ask for a divorce.
  • She breathed in deeply and said, "I understand."
  • "You'll have to figure this out on your own," Joseph said.
  • Samantha returned to the department in a state of despair. Begging Henry would not be effective. After all, his goal had to be to divorce her. She had already signed an agreement with Philip, and if she agreed to Henry now, she would end up not honoring her words. She suddenly felt nauseous and wanted to throw up, but the feeling only lasted for a moment.
  • After calming herself down a little, she switched on her computer and tried to submit her resume at other hospitals. But when they saw her name, they immediately turned her down. At this moment, she distinctly felt the impact of getting banned from professional circles.
  • However, she couldn't lose her job. She didn't have many friends, and the only one she could seek out was Aaron. After much hesitation, she decided to take out her phone and dial his number. Soon, the call was answered.
  • "Samantha?" His voice came from the other end of the phone.
  • "Are you free now? I want to meet you." She tried her best to conceal her hoarse voice and sound as natural as possible.
  • Aaron immediately agreed, "All right."
  • They decided to meet up at a restaurant. Samantha left the hospital after tidying herself up a little. She was the first to arrive.
  • When Aaron arrived, he assumed that she was asking about the heart, and immediately said as soon as he sat down, "I haven't found a suitable heart yet."
  • Samantha took the opportunity to inform him, "My mother has already had surgery."
  • "Huh?" Aaron was shocked upon hearing that. "When was that? Why wasn't I informed?"
  • "Yesterday." Samantha replied, "I haven't had time to tell you yet."
  • Aaron blinked before he said in relief, "That's good news, I guess. Everything went well, right?"
  • She nodded.
  • Seeing that she was troubled, he asked, "Did you need anything?"
  • At his words, she was forced to tell him about the matter. "I'm about to lose my job."
  • At first, Aaron was befuddled, but he was soon enraged. "What happened? Don't tell me Mr. Greyson fired you?"
  • "I offended someone."
  • He asked, "Who? Who did you offend? I'll avenge you!"
  • Thinking that he might know Henry, she hesitated before she uttered, "Henry Baker."
  • Hearing that, Aaron nearly spat his drink out. "So, because of him, you're going to lose your job?"
  • She nodded.
  • "How did you offend him? Is it because of Wisteria?" Aaron could not think of any other reason.
  • Henry got married without a wedding ceremony. He never did acknowledge his marriage, so he did not publicize it. Except for both of their families, only a small number of people knew about it. Even Aaron wasn't aware. Samantha knew she would divorce Henry sooner or later, so she didn't say anything to Aaron about it either.
  • The only thing Aaron could think of was that it had something to do with Wisteria. Before waiting for Samantha to answer, he said, "This is the first time I've seen Henry care so much about a woman. I think he must've gotten blind. How can he fall for Wisteria?"
  • It didn't matter to Samantha who Henry liked. What was more, everyone had different tastes, so it was possible that Wisteria was his type.
  • However, after hearing his words, she was certain that he was close with Henry, so she asked cautiously, "Was Henry the man you asked me to give treatment to last time?"
  • When she found out that Xavier was Henry's assistant, she already had her suspicions. Right now, she was asking Aaron just to make sure if her guess was right.
  • "Yeah, but don't tell anyone." Though Aaron warned her, he still trusted her a lot, or he wouldn't have called on her last time.
  • Aaron pondered for a moment before offering, "I'll plead with Henry on your behalf."
  • Samantha didn't know what to say in reply. She wanted to tell him about her relationship with Henry, but she didn't know how to begin, so she chose not to say anything in the end. "Thank you."
  • "Oh, aren't we friends?" Aaron smiled as he said, "Last time, you said that you wanted to treat me."
  • Samantha returned the smile and agreed, "All right, it's my treat."
  • In Dragondale Group, Henry headed back into his office after a meeting.
  • Xavier walked over and said, "Mr. Baker, I saw Miss Yeager and Aaron having a meal together."
  • "Who?" Henry looked back, his eyes full of confusion as he asked, "Samantha and Aaron know each other?"
