Chapter 16 Indirect Kiss

  • Samantha had a dream. In that dream, two large snakes were coiled around her to the point where she was suffocating. Just as she thought she was going to die from suffocation, a light shone down on her, to which she desperately grabbed onto. Just when she thought she was saved, she was jolted out of her sleep.
  • Opening her eyes, she saw that tall man standing in front of her with his clothes disheveled and his face angry to the point that it was as though he was going to beat her up. That very image woke her up instantly as she cowered into a corner of the sofa. Due to the shock, she stuttered as she asked in a hoarse tone that was slightly trembling, "W-What are you doing?"
  • Henry snickered at her feigning fear when she was the one who had disrobed him. "Wasn't it you who was missing the touch of a man, so you pretended to be asleep as you laid your hands on me?"
  • With a catch in her throat, she slowly clenched her hands as she glared at him. "I didn't!"
  • "Is that so?" Henry was clearly unconvinced. Without warning, he closed the distance between them.
  • Seeing him up close, he gave off a mysterious air that was filled with oppression and aggression. Instinctively, she blocked his advances with both of her hands.
  • As his body tensed at the touch of her warm and soft hands, his eyes drifted downward to find her hands. He thought her pale white hands were beautiful, as the curves and knuckles on her slender fingers were clearly visible. As he felt the warmth of her palms on him, he felt an indescribable agitation, and he placed the blame for his discomfort on the woman's intentional temptation. Moving slightly closer to her, he said, "Do you miss a man's touch that much to the point of wanting to violate me?"
  • "You're shameless!" She bit her lips.
  • "Me?" Henry laughed. Although his voice was light, it felt dull like he was laughing from his chest. "Weren't you the one who initiated this?"
  • It was then she realized that her hands were resting on his chest, as she was afraid of him going closer to her. It was only when he pointed it out that she could feel the heat of his body. She hurriedly withdrew her hands as she felt that warmth of his body fiery hot. Nonetheless, with the heat of his chest lingering on her palms, she was at a loss for words while not knowing where to keep her eyes at. She then said with a dry throat, "It was an accident."
  • Her breath was sweet and seductive, so much so that it would tempt anyone close to her. Henry was no exception. Nevertheless, as though he was not stirred by the lust within him, he restrained himself as he calmly straightened his back while slowly fixing his robe. "I'm hungry."
  • However, Samantha didn't understand what he meant, so she froze on the spot.
  • As Henry thought that she was reluctant to prepare him a meal when he noticed there was no movement from her at a glance, he sneered, "Even if you're reluctant to do so, you're my wife now. You have to do whatever I tell you to do."
  • Feeling the sting of his words, she tightly pursed her lips, as she couldn't refute his words. In the end, she got off the sofa and went to the kitchen. She was feeling slightly hungry since she didn't get dinner. Since Wilma had left the food out, she heated them up and brought them to the table in no time. "It's done." She called out to the man in the living room.
  • After Henry walked over to the table, he took a sweeping glance at the table with an emotionless expression that didn't indicate to her whether he was satisfied with the meal. Regardless, she was acting like a turtle the entire time, as she shrank her head in an effort to reduce her presence as much as possible. Fortunately, he didn't make a fuss.
  • On the other hand, she was the one who had a problem, as she felt like vomiting after taking a bite. Fighting her nausea, she quickly left the table before going to the bathroom to throw up. It was then that it occurred to her that she hadn't had her period this month. Since her period was usually on time, she suddenly felt a sense of unease creeping into her heart.
  • I'm not pregnant, am I? N-No. I'm on the pill. I'm just scaring myself here. I'm sure everything is fine, she thought to herself. However, she was still restless when she returned to the table. Unconsciously, she picked up a spoon and started eating. Upon swallowing that first mouthful of food, she unwittingly noticed Henry looking at her strangely. Did I offend him again? Pretty sure I didn't, she thought as her body tensed.
  • "Is… the food not to your liking?" she said with a smile even though she very much liked to stab him with a knife instead. Must he always make things difficult for me? Is he not going to stop being like this until I die? I would have poisoned the food if I had known earlier.
  • Yet, the man only slowly chewed on the broccoli as he continued to watch her with an intriguing look.
  • Seeing that, she didn't want to pay him any mind, so she continued her meal. It was then she realized that her spoon was still on her plate. But, the one in my hand… She turned to Henry's plate to find that his spoon was gone. Boom! It felt like an explosion had happened inside her mind as she realized she was using his spoon instead.
  • "Samantha Yeager, do you like me?" he asked slowly with an expression tinged with joy. He didn't know just why he felt this way as well.
  • "I…" She wanted to explain, but the words just weren't coming out of her mouth. After all, it was a fact that she used his spoon. Not only that, but I even put the spoon he used in my mouth when I was drinking my soup… Ahhhh! Is this an indirect kiss? Please, somebody kill me! She very much wanted to hide inside a dump at this moment. "It was an accident…"
  • "You can just say that you want to kiss me. There's no need for you to jump through hoops like that." He elegantly wiped the corner of his mouth with a napkin before he stood up and looked at her with a smile. "After all, it would be strange for a woman like you who jumps at the sight of a man to not have any desires for me."
  • Samantha was speechless at the man as one of the corners of her eye twitched. Is this man a narcissist?! Desires for him? That'll only happen if all the men in the world died out! Then, she firmly denied it by saying, "I assure you that that was just an accident. Don't worry, I have absolutely no desire to be with you. If I do, then I will sink down to a bad place and never rise up again."
  • Must she swear in such a manner? He narrowed his eyes. Does she no longer want to live her life? Good. Very good. Fantastic, this woman!
  • Instead of being angry, he looked at her with a smile and asked once more, "I heard that you'll never be a doctor again?"
  • At that, she jerked her head up without concealing the hatred she had for him in her face.
  • Henry laughed. Seeing her being angry brought him joy.
  • "What will it take… for you to let me go?" she asked quietly. Although Philip had fully paid off her mother's medical fees, both she and her mother still needed to pay living expenses. Without a job, she wasn't going to get any income. Without an income, she couldn't give her mother a relaxed life. Not to mention, it was her passion to be a doctor.
  • Seemingly in a good mood, as he successfully oppressed the woman, Henry said in glee, "If you're on your good behavior, I might show you some mercy." Then, he took a step toward the stairs before he stopped. Although it felt like he was giving her a chance to prove herself, it also felt like he was being difficult when he said, "I'm meeting someone at Bleu Begird tonight. If you want to keep your job, then come see me there."
  • Clenching her fists, she knew that things weren't going to be as good as he said. However, as she had no other options available, she pursed her lips and said, "I got it."
  • After Henry went back upstairs, she cleaned up the table before she continued to rest in the living room, though unable to fall asleep. It was only upon the break of dawn did she manage to fall asleep. By the time she woke up, it was already close to noon. Since she didn't clean herself last night, she quickly went upstairs and took a shower, as she wanted to take advantage of the window Henry wasn't around to do so. However, when she opened the door to her room, she realized…
