Chapter 1 INTRODUCTION

  • Danica's POV
  • My name is Danica Grazel codenamed Throat Slicer and I'm the deadliest mafia crime boss in the entire eastern part of my country. I control everything and I own every institution, organization, and body. Everything and everyone is under my payroll. You might be wondering how I got here but before that, you must also know that I'm a Werewolf, yes in fact not just any ordinary wolf but I'm the Alpha of my pack.
  • I'm sure you were expecting me to say, Luna, hell no but I'm the Alpha and I don't bow down to anyone. While it might seem like I'm breaking the rules, I have earned my place and I have no plans of vacating my title anytime soon. Many werewolves have challenged me to a death fight, but I've shredded their throats one by one, earning the title of Throat Slicer.
  • You may also be wondering if I have a mate; unfortunately, I do not. Maybe the moon Goddess is punishing me for my mafia activities, but I don't care! My rank would most likely drop if I got mated. As a result, I'm at ease with my single status.
  • My pack is known as the Gazels, and we are known for being fast, powerful, defensive, and territorial. My pack's power and invincibility is based on trust and loyalty. Yes, we take whatever we want, whenever we want it.
  • My pack, unlike the majority of werewolves, does not live on the outskirts of cities. We live among humans in the city and hide in plain sight. You're probably curious about how we deal with noise and odor, when our senses of sight, hearing, and smell are strong. Well, over time, we've adapted and learned to filter out the smells and noises that we don't care for. These senses are what have allowed us to thrive among humans. Ooh, and I almost forgot, I can read people's minds. Whether you're a human or a Wolf, I'll read your mind.
  • No one knows why I'm the only wolf capable of such feats, and neither do I. However, I no longer ask questions and instead make use of my gift. I also don't have any Betas or Omegas in my pack, unlike other packs. We follow our own set of rules and operate independently. I'm the boss, and everyone else is subordinate to me and follows my orders.
  • We don't live as a pack; instead, we live our separate lives. Some of my pack members are mated, and their mates and children recognize me as their Alpha. We do, however, get together when the situation calls for it. We've seamlessly fit in with humans and adapted to their lifestyles.
  • I run several businesses, which I refer to as shields, from which I launder billions of dollars while the city council looks the other way. I'm practically impenetrable. You will learn more about me and my law later...
  • ..............
  • Nolan's POV
  • My name is Nolan Blake, and I just finished medical school. I've never been happier in my entire life. My new job is awesome, and I just moved into a new apartment. If you asked me ten years ago where I saw myself, I would have said dead or in prison.
  • You're probably surprised but bear with me for a moment. I come from a tangled household. My mother is late while my father is alive and kicking, and I have two older brothers but we have different surnames.
  • Although we share the same biological parents, my father changed my surname ten years ago at my request. You're probably wondering why, but I demanded that my father change my surname to my mother's maiden name so that I could leave the family.
  • It sounds strange but My father, if you must know, is a crime boss, yes, the kind you see in movies selling drugs, weapons, and murdering people. That's my father and my brothers. The Lopez family is referred to as the Lopez clan. I didn't want to be a part of such a life, so I begged my father to remove me, which he did.
  • I'm still shocked at how quickly he approved my appeal. He simply asked me what I wanted to do with my life, and when I told him I wanted to be a doctor, he sighed but to my surprise, he said I needed to get good grades in order to get a scholarship because if he changed my name, he would no longer support me financially.
  • I almost cried with joy, okay, I cried because I didn't expect him to grant my wish without a reason. It was as if he had expected it. Fast forward a few years, I got decent grades, a scholarship, and a part-time job at a fast-food restaurant while attending medical school.
  • Nobody knows I'm related to the Lopez or that my father is a gangster. Whenever my father wished to see me, he gave me a plane ticket to a country in Europe, where we met and spent time together.
  • I'm not sure how the arrangement would work out should I get married, but it's how we're doing it right now. He communicates with me via a pager phone. Every two weeks, I'm supposed to replace it. When he agreed to change my name, he stipulated these conditions.
  • He claims it's for my safety because, unlike my two brothers, Jeff and Thomas, who have bodyguards and guns, I'm the easiest target for his enemies if they discover I'm his biological son.
  • That is my story, and I have no intention of returning to the crime life; I have seen the dark side of that life, and I will be eternally grateful to my father for granting me a way out.
  • Enough about that aspect of my life; I'm about to leave for work. I just finished unpacking my belongings and soon I will easily Settle in. You will get to know me but for now, catch you later.
