Chapter 50 Little Blue: Leo POV

  • I tightened my hold on my baby’s waist, reminding him that he wasn’t alone. I wanted to tell him not to look at the reports, but I don’t control his life and I can’t shield him from absolutely everything; no matter how much I wanted to. It’s unrealistic. It was also his decision to look at these reports and he had just as much right to do so as any of us; so I would support him either way. As the papers came into view, though, my desire to cover his eyes and hide him from the information increased. At least, the diagrams weren’t overly graphic in their images, as they only depicted outlines of a male body with circles, dots, and writings here and there. There were various notes of cuts made by various implements, burns of both the chemical and non-chemical nature, as well as wounds that Marie had yet to fully understand the cause of.
  • The diagram of the woman had the entirety of her back covered in scar tissue that seemed to be made of a type of whip, while one of the ones who’d been in their shifted form at death and multiple bullet wounds. It was as if he’d been used for target practice, as there was a clear grouping of the bullets. All of them had signs of being restrained at the wrist, ankle, neck, and waist for extended periods of time. Cy’s hand started to shake ever so slightly, so I carefully eased the papers from his hand and kissed the top of his head. Handing the papers back to my dad, I gently rocked Cy and I as his breathing, which had become slightly shaky, had calmed once more. I kissed the back of his neck and asked the question that had come to mind as I’d looked at the various reports,
  • “They all say incomplete. What exactly is missing? It seems quite…detailed.”
