Chapter 42 Panic Room: Dual POV

• Jayce was careful as he held my arm to steady me on the steps. I, on the other hand, was making sure I was careful as well. With my stomach as big as it was, balance was needed at a whole new level. Not to mention that the added weight made moving more tiring than it usually was. If I had to run, I'd still be able to, but it would leave me nearly completely exhausted. Not to mention the constant ache of my back and the swelling of my feet. All in all, my body was quite uncomfortable most of the time. It made this attack even more of a hassle than it was. At least for me and anyone else who was pregnant. There was only one or two people as far along as me, surprisingly, but still.
• After what felt like forever, we were finally at the bottom of the stairs. I waddled beside Jayce as he lead me to a seemingly inconspicuous wall. Or it would be inconspicuous if it didn't have a doorway-shaped hole with a few people walking through it. These were the last of the non-warriors in the pack. I made sure I was the last to enter, along with Jayce. This was my responsibility, even when pregnant, the pack's safety is the utmost priority. That being said, Leo would have a fit if he knew I was doing something like this.
