Chapter 32 Patrol: Cyrus POV

• I growled lowly as Marcus, one of the warriors, brushed against me. His brown wolf bowed its head before taking a step back and apologizing through the pack link. I nodded before yawning. I'd been up since 7:30 and it couldn't be any earlier than 11:00 at night. Shaking out my blue-black fur, I continued forward with the rest of the patrol following. Since the week after the blood moon, feral rogue attacks had become strangely frequent and had started coming from all sides. After talking about it, Mical, Leo, Aerin, Josh, and I had decided to increase the number of patrols. In order to help out, Leo, Josh, and I had all decided to pitch in with the patrols to help ease the strain slightly. Each of us took two shifts on the weekend and the night shift during the week, which is why I was currently tracing the east border instead of sleeping in bed with my mate. Luckily, we were nearly finished.
• My ears twitched as the sound of shifting bushes reached my ears. I pawed the ground, causing the group to stop. Everyone's head was lifted, ears alert, sensitive to the slightest sound. The bush next to me shifted, causing me to turn quickly just in time for fangs, claws, and pure red eyes with no white to launch towards my face. I pressed my front paws into the feral wolf's chest as we tumbled on the ground. The sounds of fighting filled the air around me as the rest of the group was attacked. Dragging my hind claws against the filthy wolf's stomach, I continued to push the snapping fangs from my face. As I was about to push it off, movement from my right side caught my eye. I rolled to my left as teeth snapped in the empty space me and my opponent once occupied. With my attention focused on this second rogue, my original problem took advantage of the situation. Pain seared my shoulder as fangs dug into me. I growled loudly before kicking it off of me.
