Chapter 72 Snow

• I looked out the window of our chalet in Switzerland and felt like I had stepped into a completely different world. Everything was quiet and peaceful with a thick blanket of white snow covering the ground and the tall mountains. It was nothing like the bright noisy streets of Tokyo. The air felt cold and fresh when I opened the door and stepped outside for the first time. My boots made soft crunching sounds in the snow and I stopped walking just to stare at everything. I had never seen snow before in my life. It looked so clean and beautiful like the whole world had been covered in soft white sugar. Mateo stood behind me watching quietly. I could feel his eyes on me but I did not turn around right away. I was too busy trying to understand this new feeling in my chest. It was light and warm even though the air was freezing.
• I reached out my hand and caught some snowflakes on my palm. They were so small and perfect for a moment before they melted away into tiny drops of water.
