Chapter 68 Anywhere

• I lay on the lounge bed by the pool still breathing hard with Elara in my arms after we had just finished making love in the open air. My heart was still racing and my body felt warm and satisfied but my mind was already thinking about the future. The sun felt nice on our skin and the water in the pool sparkled quietly beside us. Elara rested her head on my chest and I could feel her breathing slowly getting back to normal. I ran my fingers through her dark hair and held her closer because I never wanted to let her go. After everything we had been through, the confessions, the pain and the darkness, I wanted to give her something good. Something light. I wanted to show her that life could be more than just surviving. So I took a deep breath and spoke the words that had been forming in my mind.
• “Elara,” I said softly while kissing the top of her head. “Let us go away for a while. Just you and me. We can go anywhere in the world you want. Name a place and I will take you there tomorrow.”
