Chapter 67 Poolside Tension

  • ELARA
  • I felt a strange mix of excitement and power as Mateo and I walked out to the private pool just half an hour after the rain had finally stopped. The air was still damp and fresh with that clean smell that comes after a storm. I wore a small red bikini that showed a lot of my skin while Mateo was shirtless in black shorts that hung low on his hips. His muscles looked strong and beautiful under the soft sunlight with drops of water still shining on his shoulders and chest from the light rain earlier. I could not stop staring at him. My eyes kept moving over his arms and stomach and the way his body moved when he walked. I reached out and touched his chest with my fingers feeling the warmth of his skin and the hard muscles underneath. He smiled at me in that way that always made my heart beat faster. The tension between us was already building even though we had just come outside.
  • We sat on the wide lounge chairs near the edge of the pool. The water looked calm and blue after the rain. Two maids came out carrying trays with cold water and fresh fruits and snacks. They kept their heads down and moved quickly like they were scared to look at us for too long. I knew exactly why they were so nervous. They had seen what happened on the dining table last night when Mateo and I did not care who was watching. The memory made me feel powerful and amused at the same time. One of the younger maids almost dropped a glass because her hands were shaking so much.
