Chapter 69 Tokyo
- MATO
- I watched Elara closely as we stepped out of the airport in Tokyo and I could already see how overwhelmed she was. The city hit us with bright lights and giant moving screens and colorful signs everywhere. The air felt different and the crowds moved like a fast river around us. Cars and trains made constant noise and the streets seemed to never end. Elara tried to act like it was nothing special. She kept her face calm and walked with her head high but I noticed the way her eyes lingered on everything. She would stare at the tall buildings with lights flashing across them and then quickly look away like she did not want me to see how much it affected her. My heart felt full and a little worried at the same time. I wanted this trip to be perfect for her but I knew she was fighting with herself about letting go and enjoying it.
- We took a car to our hotel in the middle of the busy city. The driver pointed out different places but Elara stayed quiet most of the time. When we got to our room she walked to the big window and looked out at the sea of lights below.
