Chapter 40: Rival

  • Merry Smith did not accept the preferential treatment given by J. Carter to Ann. But he dared not challenge J. Carter openly. On the other hand, Ann Davis was a nobody. She's just the woman J. Carter was currently close to. Of course, if Merry humiliated Ann in public, J. Carter could hate her and throw her away. A handsome, wealthy, and powerful man like J. Carter would quickly tire of a woman like Ann Davis. Merry only needed to find Ann's weakness and destroy it in public before the woman established a relationship with the officials in the office.
  • The problem was, Merry Smith did not know that Ann was the legal wife of J. Carter. She didn't know yet, because Ann and Jace had agreed to keep it a secret to find out about Merry Smith's movements.
