Chapter 14: Merry Smith

• Ann's body jolted in surprise at Merry's screams, but Jace didn't let go of his lips and continued to kiss her passionately. Jace slowly let go of his lips as he spoke quietly to signal Ann to follow the game. Ann's body was still with her back to Merry. Meanwhile, Jace looked at Merry sharply from behind Ann's body. Merry looked shaking with anger. Ann could hear the tap of Merry's high heels that were approaching in a hurry.
• "Merry, have you forgotten how to knock on the door?" Jace asked in a cold, even tone.
• "What is this, J?" asked Merry, snapping in a loud voice.
