Before the evening charity banquet began, an auction was held at the banquet venue.
Sitting in the front row, Sang Shixi and I could see clearly what items were being auctioned. Antiques, valuable looking ones, every single one of them.
Among them was a circlet, or a tiara, placed in a clear crystal case, glittering prismatic under the display lightings.
Seeing me eyeing at it unable to take my eyes away, Sang Shixi came a little closer to me, “That tiara belonged to one of the most beloved wives of a Slavonic tsar during the middle ages. This particular crown was actually stolen by one of the tsar’s maidservants, and ever since it resurfaced in the 1700’s it has always been kept inside museums.”
“If it was being displayed inside museums, how could people just take it and auction it off here?”
“It’s a private museum. Occasionally this particular curator is willing to part with some of his belongings for the sake of charity.”
