Chapter 18 Car Accident

  • Her sobs were so loud that I couldn’t even focus.
  • “No.”
  • “What about my jaw?”
  • “Also nothing.”
  • “And my cheeks?”
  • “You got surgery on your cheeks too?” I was astonished, “Is there anything authentic on your face?”
  • “My skin!” she yelled. I admired her courage. While she kept whining, I tried to get out of the car.
  • My legs must have been affected by the collision; they hurt. The pain made me impatient, so I asked Yao Keyi, “What are you still doing in the car?”
  • “I’m stuck.” Her face was a mess, and her mascara had melted around her eyes.
  • I limped to the other side towards the driver’s seat and found her feet stuck between the gas pedal and brake. She might lose some of her skin, but it shouldn’t be hard to pull them out.
  • “Just pull them out.”
  • “No way!” Her cries were deafening, “It hurts! I might die!”
  • “You’re just stuck, for God’s sake! You’re not going to die!”
  • “No, no way! It’s too painful.”
  • What a princess. I called the police first, then bent down before her.
  • She was alarmed, “What are you doing?”
  • “Hold onto me. I’ll get you out.”
  • “Don’t!” She shook her head desperately, “I can’t do this. It will kill me!”
  • “Your car is leaking. If you don’t get out now, the oil may lead to an explosion at any time!” I bluffed. Actually, it wasn’t leaking at all, and even if it were, it wouldn’t explode without a fire.
  • However, Yao Keyi bought it without a second thought, probably because she had seen this kind of scene in TV dramas.
  • She cried even louder because she believed it, “I don’t want to die. I don’t…”
  • “Shut up if you don’t want to die. You are annoying!” I leaned forward and grabbed her feet, “Close your eyes. It’ll be over before you even notice it.”
  • “Ah! Help…”
  • She screamed helplessly while I forcefully dragged her feet out.
  • I fell onto the ground because of the momentum. She rolled out of the car with tears streaming down her face, “Let’s get out of here! Move!”
  • I stood up also. W bearing the sharp pain in my legs, I went to get my snacks.
  • Yao Keyi shouted, “It’s going to blow up. Forget about the snacks!”
  • She’s so dumb and annoying.
  • I grabbed the snacks as well as the handbag Yao Keyi left at her seat.
  • Walking back to her, I noted that Sang Qi was there somehow. However, Yao Keyi was unusually quiet this time, probably because she didn’t want to scare Sang Qi off with her horrible appearance. With the assistance of a bodyguard, she got into Sang Qi’s car.
  • I threw the handbag to her, “Hey, your bag!”
  • Then I sat down on the sidewalk to rest. Sang Qi gave me a sidelong glance, “You are not leaving?”
  • It was nice of him to turn around after he found out that we had an accident.
  • “I called the police, so I’m waiting for them,” I looked up and answered.
  • His eyes were fixated on my legs, “You got hurt.”
  • The thin jeans I wore didn’t protect my legs which were bleeding badly.
  • I wrapped the wounds with a ripped section of my T-shirt. It was another skill I learned from my journalist work.
  • This simple treatment should stop the bleeding for now.
  • I put my head between my knees since the loss of blood made me feel slightly dizzy.
  • However, I sensed Sang Qi walking over to me. He then bent over and carried me in his arms.
  • “I’m fine.” I murmured, “Just take her to the hospital.”
  • Without replying to me, he brought me to the car and put me in the backseat with Yao Keyi.
  • In a deep and attractive voice, he told his assistant, “You stay here and explain to the police.”
  • Then he got in the car as well.
  • The car was started. It seemed to be heading towards the hospital.
  • Yao Keyi was carefully wiping the mess on her face with a small mirror and some tissue.
  • Maybe she was planning to do her makeup again, but at least her attitude was somewhat acceptable.
  • She complained while fixing her makeup, “It’s so painful! There might be scars on my legs.”
  • I took a cursory glance at her ankles. Compared to mine, her wounds were nothing.
  • “Don’t worry. Normally those kinds of scrapes don’t leave scars.”
  • She looked at me skeptically, “Really?”
  • “Yes.” I passed her a nougat, “This may help you calm down.”
  • She took a bite, “Milk. I don’t like eating dairy products.”
  • Picky as always. I leaned back on the seat and closed my eyes.
  • There was a sharp pain in my legs, and I wasn’t sure if the bones were broken. Cold sweat began to soak my clothes.
  • Yet, Yao Keyi wouldn’t stop talking, “Hey, you should have reminded me earlier. Then I wouldn’t have crashed.”
  • “Did you do something with my legs earlier? I’m in so much pain.”
  • “Hey, why do you look so pale?”
  • Why? The pain in my legs was killing me!
  • Couldn’t she just shut up?
  • I patted Sang Qi’s shoulder and muttered, “Pull over. I’m getting out.”
  • I’d rather go to the hospital myself than listen to her continuous chatter. Her voice made it even more unbearable.
  • Sang Qi shot a glance at me and then asked the driver to pull over.
  • I pushed the door open, but before I got out, Sang Qi came over and held me in his arms again.
  • “Just leave me alone here,” I said.
  • However, he carried me to the car behind us which his bodyguard was driving.
  • He placed me in the backseat and sat down beside me.
  • “Let’s go,” he ordered.
  • All right. At least I didn’t need to put up with that noisy woman anymore.
  • “Does it hurt?” he asked.
  • I smiled and gnashed my teeth, “What do you think?”
  • I was not Yao Keyi, nor did I play weak in front of him. I’d bear with it till the end.
  • The pain was almost too great to endure, but complaining was not my thing.
  • When we arrived at hospital, I was almost in a trance.
  • The wounds cut deep, caused by a steel part on Yao Keyi’s car. They needed cleaning and several stitches.
  • It was certainly not my lucky day. During the preparation process, the doctor found out that they had run out of anesthetics. So, I had to wait for a while.
  • However, I didn’t want to wait. It was getting worse every minute.
  • “Just stitch them up. I don’t need anesthetics,” I told the doctor.
  • The doctor was startled. Even Sang Qi looked surprised.
  • “Without anesthetics, the pain will kill you,” he warned me coldly.
  • I was not silly. How could I not know?
  • The truth is, I might actually be a bit allergic to anesthetics. I learned that from my last dental surgery.
  • I said calmly, “Just do it!”
