Chapter 32 Going Rogue
- Kael’s POV
- I didn’t hear the teachers at first. I only felt the room tilt, the light thinning around the edges like I was about to black out, and Seren’s breathing, a fragile, stuttering rasp that didn’t belong to the girl I knew. It felt like everything was in slow motion, like I was in a dream. Then noise flooded back in a rush. Doors slammed. Teachers’ voices cracked like whips, cutting the gaping ring of students into smaller, retreating clusters. Someone yelled to give space. Someone else said blood, there’s blood, and another said call the pack medics and the pack police now.
- Ayla’s hair had spilled out of its pony tail, a dark fan on the floors of the school hall. Her wolf had already begun to knit flesh beneath the bruises, but the healing was messy. Beta’s daughter or not, she’d taken the full force of Seren’s hands. Seren who had never trained to break bones and yet had nearly done it. I was sure of it. If Seren hadn’t stopped, she would have killed Ayla, and I don’t even know how that is possible.
