• "Because they're having an affair behind your back" and because Lisandra was sick in the head. Despite knowing that was Gwen's favorite restaurant and that she frequently went there with her fiance, she still chose to eat there. As if she didn't care if Gwen caught them or not.
• "Why?" Gwen asked tears streaming down her face. Taking her bag and Gwen's, she paid for their food and then herded her out of the restaurant. She was still in shock after seeing her fiancé and best friend cheating on her. Emilia was counting on that shock to last longer or at least until they got home. It was one thing to tell Gwen the truth and it was another to let her make a public spectacle of herself. It would be better if she just confronted Lisandra somewhere private.
• She cried all the way home and Emilia let her. Finding out the person you loved with your best friend had to be one of the worst betrayals. For Gwen, it had to be worse because she'd trusted Lisandra for so many years. They were almost like sisters. They'd grown up together, cried, and spent special moments together. It was going to be a while before she would stop feeling as if she was drowning.
